EHR Association Workgroups
HIMSS EHR Association members work together on various issues critical to today’s healthcare and to the future of electronic healthcare.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee (MC) manages all membership criteria, membership materials, new Member recruitment as well as the budgeting process for the EHR Association. In addition, the Membership Committee manages the election and selection processes for EHR Association Board and Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs. The MC also helps set the agenda for the EHR Association face-to-face member meetings.
Acceleration / Adoption Work Group
The Acceleration/Adoption Work Group works to define the strategies and execute the tactical plan around acknowledged barriers to adoption for the EHR Association, which will include outreach to key stakeholder groups including: Government Organizations / Associations, Payors; Provider Groups / Associations; Other Trade Associations, Medical Associations / Societies, and other groups. In the near term, the Work Group will handle the rollout plan of the Interoperability Roadmap.
Certification Workgroup
The Certification Work Group drives relationships with key stakeholders and coordinates EHR Association responses relative to all areas of the certification process.
Communications Work Group
The Communications Work Group mandate is to position the association, its members and its initiatives, as leading the HIT industry trade organization during these fast-paced and critical times in the adoption of electronic health records. They will be responsible for defining and executing the marketing and communications plan, which includes formalizing channels and developing the necessary tools for the EHR Association to communicate with all stakeholders including current and potential EHR Association members, the healthcare provider community, third party organizations, and handling public relations and media outreach.
Government Initiatives & Organizations Work Group
The Government Initiatives & Organizations Work Group sets strategy for interaction and participation with established government and private sector initiatives related to EHR.
Standards & Interoperability Work Group
The Standards & Interoperability Work Group supports the membership with coordinated feedback and education on industry, government and standard development organizations initiatives. It works with its membership to develop a clear and pragmatic road map for national interoperability.
Ambulatory Special Interest Group
The purpose of the Ambulatory Special Interest Group (SIG) is to provide an open forum for discussion, education, and feedback on issues relevant to ambulatory EHR firms. Participation is open to members of all EHR Association ambulatory focused firms.
As the nation embarks on the widespread deployment of EHRs, a variety of concomitant challenges and barriers must be addressed.
