EHR Association Workgroups

Workgroups are the core of the EHR Association, providing leadership and expertise to health IT industry stakeholders, as well as legislators and policymakers. Workgroups are the source of education, tools and leadership activities for members as well as the industry in general, providing tactical and strategic guidance for the future of healthcare. Participation in EHR Association workgroups provides an opportunity to collaborate with peers and contribute to a growing body of work and accomplishments that have established the organization as a key participant in the transformation of our nation's healthcare system.

Certification Workgroup
The Certification Workgroup will focus on efforts related to the certification of electronic health records, including government (ONC, NIST) and private industry certification bodies.

Engagement & Outreach Workgroup
The Engagement & Outreach Workgroup works to engage specific stakeholder groups (government, industry, consumer) in a dialog on issues of shared interest that are affecting our industry.  Identification/prioritization of these groups should be aligned with the issues that are currently driving the Association - achieving meaningful use, certification, patient safety and other issues that might arise during the year. This workgroup will identify opportunities to develop coalitions that will strengthen our positions on these issues, and build relationships and strategies to collaborate with specific stakeholder groups to do so. The result should be ongoing relationships that support mutual objectives.

Meaningful Use Workgroup
The Meaningful Use Workgroup will focus its efforts on helping our collective customers achieve meaningful use of EHRs through educating members, identifying and supporting opportunities to influence future stages and definition of meaningful use.

Patient Safety Workgroup
The Patient Safety Workgroup will work collaboratively with member companies and key stakeholders to advance the safe use of EHRs. This group will create best practices in key areas identified by the Executive Committee and will serve as a resource to educate the membership on issues of patient safety and proactive reporting processes associated with EHR usage.

Privacy & Security Workgroup
The Privacy & Security Workgroup is responsible for monitoring and organizing the Association's input and response to initiatives - whether driven by proposed regulation, standards or certification requirements - that relate to privacy and security of protected health information (PHI) managed or exchanged through an EHR.

Public Policy Leadership Workgroup
The Public Policy Leadership Workgroup will facilitate leadership in public policy initiatives of importance to EHR Association members. This workgroup will partner with other EHR Association workgroups and the Executive Committee to align efforts and utilize content (i.e., EHR Association positions), to enable leadership in priority areas. The Public Policy Leadership Workgroup will be a source of information and education for EHR Association members on key public policy initiatives

Quality & Clinician Experience Workgroup
The Quality & Clinician Workgroup will focus on opportunities and barriers related to how health IT can facilitate improvements in care quality, with a special focus on two HIT domains: clinical decision support and clinician experience.

Standards & Interoperability Workgroup
The Standards & Interoperability Workgroup supports the membership with coordinated feedback and education on industry, government and standards development organization (SDO) initiatives. It works with its membership to develop a clear and pragmatic roadmap to achieve national interoperability.
